October Development Update

It’s been a minute! Things have been incredibly busy the past couple of months between real life, new opportunities, and creating more involved scenes, animations, and designs for Cthulhu Junior.

Since the last update we worked through all the feedback and made several tweaks to the current build, primarily world 2 (which admittedly was pretty rushed at the time). The biggest change that demo players will notice is that we have updated a lot of the colors to provide much better contrast which should help with play ability as well as just being a little less harsh on the eyes. While I love the yellows we had, this has also been easier for me to personally stare at for hours on end. Cut-scenes were also implemented for both of bosses of world 2 and I think they turned out really fun (and thankfully early viewers have agreed!).

Work on World 3 has taken much longer than I originally expected and while a lot of that has been due to external forces, a lot of it has to do with having some really fun designs and scenes that have really expanded on what I’ve learned in the past few months. It may not be earth shattering when you see it, but the level of effort has definitely increased to get some of these animations to levels that I think they need to be. I think we would easily be on World 4 by now if it wasn’t for the fact that I refused to let go of some ideas that I really hope resonate well with you all!

I’ve thrown together a few videos that show one of the new cut scenes as well as sped up versions of cutting out a few of the major frames and linked it below, as well as a few sneak peaks at world 3-1. While the level is done, I'm holding off on showing too much of it until I can get more play testing done on it’s boss, as well as smoothing out one of the other cut scenes I’m VERY excited about. I hope you all enjoy!
